Monthly Water Quality Reports
Aquatic Control has treated Bass Lake for invasive weeds through the approval of DNR and the BLCD Board for many years. To keep improving the water quality Aquatic Control will now implement water quality monitoring and restoration in the lake's annual aquatic vegetation management plan. They will conduct routine monitoring of water quality, phytoplankton communities, and sediment phosphorus dynamics to provide a baseline dataset for understanding current lake quality, identify potential sources of lake impairment, and assist in making future management decisions. Collectively, the data Aquatic Control proposes to collect ensures that any recommended management actions, whether watershed-based or in-lake treatments, are appropriate and supported by site-specific data. Over time, implementable efforts recommended by this monitoring are expected to have a positive impact on clarity (secchi depth) in the lake and improve the ability for native submersed vegetation to establish and expand presence within the lake. Between May and September of 2026 Aquatic Control will collect water samples for water quality monitoring, sediment phosphorus analysis, and report the findings monthly. These reports along with the full Bass Lake Monitoring Plan will be posted to our website (www.basslakecd.in.gov).
